My 2012 Blogging Resolutions

I am not big on New Year Resolutions, but I do have a few as they pertain to my blog and website. For the past 2 years, I have started the year off with a list of goals that I wanted to achieve with my blog. I have hit many of those goals and benchmarks, but still struggle with some.

So here is my list of my 2012 Blogging Resolutions:

Build a Community:

Networking and building relationships with people is the heart of a blog really. You don’t want people to just read your blog, but to learn and grow with it, and share it with others. You want to connect and inspire. I think once you stop doing that, it is hard to evolve. I want to work harder with building my Cubicle Community and reaching out my readers and those who support me and what I do. And not only do this online, but build relationships offline as well.

Do the Hard Work:

I really want to expand the coverage and material on my blog to include reporting and case studies. I know this may sound boring, but I think in reporting on issues as they relate to family, parenting, work, and personal life, I could really help people, myself included. Doing the hard work with researching and interviewing sources for these posts will really make the piece valuable and informative.

Shout Out Other Bloggers:

There are so many bloggers that I love and respect. Some of them are well-known, but there are some that don’t have a large readership, but have awesome blogs. I want to share these blogs with my followers an my readers and give my support to them in any way that I can.

No Fillers:

There isn’t a blogger who has been blogging for over 2 years that hasn’t been guilty of writing a filler piece—that is, the piece that you write for your blog that was written just because you needed a new blog post. It’s not your best work and isn’t something that you even worked hard on. It’s just a filler piece, something put up to say that you have a new blog post. I have done this before a few times and I don’t want to do it anymore. If I don’t have anything to post, then I simply won’t post. No more filler pieces.

Be More Social at Events:

I am a pretty social chick, but I could do better. As someone who speaks to others on the virtue of networking at events, I have been guilty of sticking with those I know instead of branching out—how can I tell others not to do this when I do it myself? This year, I will be out there more, which means that yes, I will probably get on your nerves with my in your face networking.

I think that about covers my Blogging Resolutions for this year, although I reserve the right to add more to this list when I see fit.

What are your Blogging Resolutions for the New Year? I shared mine, so it’s only fair that you share yours too!
